VICUÑA

The vicuña is a wild and rare camelid only found in South America. It is the smallest and prettiest of the camelids and wanders through the high alpine areas of the Andes.

Its fiber is the world's finest, with an average diameter between 11 and 13.5 microns. The fibers are hollow and air-filled which traps and insulates air.

The super-soft, fine, and resilient wool has been coveted for decades—particularly by Incan royalty. Today, it is in scarce supply because vicuña is an endangered species and, therefore, is shorn under tightly controlled conditions.
